My son has ... SO MANY LEGO sets; he is twelve and has been collecting regular LEGO since he was four or 5. Yes, the sets get built, but soon after they get broken down into their constituent parts, and we have massive build sessions where we sit in the middle of all his LEGO and just build stuff. It's some of the most fun I have with him.

Really, more expensive than flying? The family and I are looking at taking a X-country trip on AMTRAK and it looks to be significantly cheaper than flying. Plus, we will get to see awesome sights.

You lucked out. I periodically have entertained the idea of a long train trip with the family, and it has invariably been a good bit more expensive than just flying. The only time it is even close is on short (say a few hundred miles) trips.

Interesting that I saw this article earlier today on Reddit:

Was the Reddit article the impetus for your post?

What ... not everybody carries a small, 6' tape measure with them??? Surely I'm not THAT abnormal.

Most of the world carries a 2 m tape measure with them. You're only normal in the USA, Myanmar, and Liberia.

Are these physical flashcards or virtual, some sort of flashcard software? Definitely writing out 301,432 physical flashcards would be a lot of work, not to mention [kinda] a waste of paper, however many people still like the physical over the virtual; this is me when it comes to reading books.

Bullets 2,3, and 4

* I'm using my own software

* I did 301,432 flashcard reviews in 2025.

* Those reviews covered 52,764 distinct cards.

I voted for Ross. Sad he didn't win.

And in other news ... water is wet.

A LOT of what is mentioned for today's frontend and backend developers is really companies dumping more and more responsibility onto developers so they can fire SEOs, Configurations Management specialists, DBAs, etc., so that the company can save more money while burning out more developers.

I know the colors are a little ... intense, but I love it!
